Fourth hotel for Open Golf

9.00am 11th June 2002 - Property

Open Golf Club, the French golf group, has taken over Le Touquet’s prestigious, four-star Hotel Westminster, for the past seventy-five years a firm favourite with British golfers visiting the many courses near Boulogne.

Open Golf Club, one of the most successful of the French golf operators, assumed ownership of the famous hotel on 1st June. This completes an investment programme in the Cote d’Opale region which started ten years ago with the acquisition of the Le Touquet Golf Club and its well-known La Mer and Foret courses and the adjacent le Manoir Hotel.

This was followed with the re-instating of nine new holes at Le Touquet, refurbishment of the lovely old hotel and then, in 1999, the purchase of the equally popular Hardelot Golf Club with its two courses, The Pines and The Dunes, and its two clubhouses and restaurants only 14 miles from Le Touquet.

“We are delighted with this acquisition. The Westminster Hotel is a very fine addition to our facilities in this part of France,” said Nicolas Boissonnas, head of Open Golf Club. “We will be redeveloping our golf programme for visitors to Le Touquet and Hardelot and everyone will benefit, particularly our many British visitors.”

In addition to Le Touquet and Hardelot, Open Golf Club operates seven more golf venues in France – four courses in Provence, plus Nimes-Vacqueroles and Saint Cyprien, also in the South, and les Yvelines near Paris – and now a total of four hotels.
