The Italian fashion brand Duca del Cosma that pioneered ultra-lightweight spikeless golf shoes more than a decade ago, is stepping into Europe’s largest golf market with a new range of premium golf shoes for Spring 2018 that can be worn both on and off the course.
The brand was acquired last year by Frank van Wezel, the man behind the famous Hi-Tec brand that he sold having reached annual global sales of more than $250m.
Once an admirer of the Italian brand and its qualities from afar, Frank is now determined to make it a success and has revitalised the stunning footwear range to reflect the demands of the modern golfer.
’’We are aiming our products at demanding club golfers and the next generation of players in tune with current styles and fashions,’’ said Frank, who has already expanded sales to more than 400 stockists in 13 countries. “We are dedicated to providing on-time delivery and excellent customer service. We have incorporated substantial margins into our price structures for all retail partners to benefit from sales,” he added.
Stylish, bold, classy, elegant and sporty – the brand philosophy is represented in a distinctive collection for men and women that takes its inspiration from award-winning Italian design combined with amazing attention to detail.
The high class build quality is matched with advanced technology that includes a waterproof microfibre system acting like a breathable protective ‘sock’ within the shoe. The waterproof membrane keeps the foot dry during play and is supported by a soft PU insert sole to provide extra comfort for the duration of the round.
The brand’s innovative SKYFLEX technology outsole is built around an ergonomic design that provides grip during the downswing for a stable strike, while special channels allow the shoe to bend and flex perfectly to the natural roll-off motion of the foot.
“Golfers who try them comment that our shoes are extremely comfortable from the very first time they wear them,” said Tony Eccleston, General Manager for Duca del Cosma in the UK & Ireland.
Among the first to wear and endorse a pair of the latest STROMBOLI shoes was former Ryder Cup player Peter Baker, who won nine professional tournaments during his Tour career.
The lightweight shoes are available in a variety of fashionable colour combinations. Leading the men’s range for SS’18 are the Kuba and Camelot (SRP £189.95 & £229.95, sizes 7 to 12), while ahead of the game in the women’s range are the Palm Springs and Porte Ercole styles (SRP £199.95 & £179.95, sizes 4 to 8).
“We’re now at the start of an exciting journey with Duca del Cosma in this fiercely competitive market sector and hope that many more stockists will join us to offer a very different choice to golfers that benefits retailers too,’’ said Tony Eccleston.
