The Top 100 website (www.top100golfcourses.co.uk) has featured rankings under many categories for a number of years, but it has been more than two years since they updated their rankings for Europe’s Top 100 Golf Courses.
Their rankings take into account every shred of published ranking data and they consider golf courses from every Continental European country. Additionally, they keep a watchful eye on the golf clubs and listen to hundreds of thousands of visitors that surf the Top 100 website.
The result is the most informed European rankings ever produced. Unlike golf magazines, which pay lip service to the Continental European rankings, Top 100 Golf Courses has been compiling European rankings for more than five years. They have also completely re-ranked every single European country and nearly 400 top European courses have changed position.
There is no new European No.1 because the outstanding aristocratic Morfontaine remains the top course; however, there are 20 new entries into their all-new Top 100. The Vineuil course at Chantilly is one of the highest climbers and Monte Rei jumps a massive 23 places into the Top 10. The highest new entry is the Robert Trent Jones II-designed Lukber, which took five years in the making.
“Ranking golf courses is all about opinions and it is the honest comments from visitors to the Top 100 website that truly cut to the chase,” say the publishers.
