Burhill Golf and Leisure Limited, owner of The Shropshire Golf Centre, has taken the decision to place the property onto the open market to ascertain whether a suitable purchaser for the Club can be identified.
The Shropshire Golf Centre is situated to the north east of Telford and accessible from Junction 4 of the M54. The M6 & M6 Toll roads are nearby offering excellent links. The Golf Centre is one hour from Birmingham International Airport and 30 minutes west of Birmingham itself.
Telford has a population of 140,000 and has the eighth largest exhibition centre in the UK in the form of the International Centre which holds over 5,000 events a year with over 300,000 business visitors. As part of the West Midlands “Regional Spatial Strategy”, Telford is set to have 20,000 new homes in the next twenty years.
Burhill has owned the Club, widely regarded as the number one golf centre and driving range in the West Midlands, since 2002 but has now taken the difficult decision to market the property for sale due to the geographic disparity of The Shropshire with the rest of Burhill’s golf and property portfolio.
The Club, which now has the benefit of planning consent for the construction of a 50 bed hotel (subject to a S.106 agreement), is in excellent condition having benefitted from investment and improvements throughout Burhill’s ownership.
Burhill will work closely with any purchaser to ensure a smooth handover, for the benefit of the members, staff and others who use the Club’s facilities.
The property, which is being marketed through HMH Golf and Leisure, extends to 250 acres with 27 holes in 3 loops of nine. In addition there is a par 3, academy course and large floodlit driving range.
The extensive clubhouse facilities include manager’s accommodation. With approximately 600 members the Club has achieved a turnover of £1.325m.
The guide price is £2.6m for the freehold. All enquiries to Tom Marriott on 079006 720 45 tem@hmhgolfandleisure.com
