Well done Deere

April 27th, 2012

This year marks the 175th anniversary of John Deere successfully manufacturing and marketing the self-scouring plough. From its birth in that blacksmith’s shop back in 1837 the Company went on to revolutionise agriculture and made farming in the tough soil of the US Midwest a productive and profitable venture.

Now with more 60,000 employees worldwide John Deere is the world’s leading manufacturer of agricultural and forestry equipment as well as a leader in construction and turf care equipment.

As Editor of GBN.com and along with other journalists from the ‘Turf & Agricultural’ media of Europe I have been lucky enough to have been a guest of Deere & Company this week. We have witnessed for ourselves the four core values that John Deere instilled in his company: integrity, quality, commitment and innovation. These values have been the key to the longevity of the enterprise.
