The Wrong Sort of Headlines

October 14th, 2014

In recent days Golf has been getting into the headlines for all the wrong reasons. PGA chief executive Sandy Jones is right to take on the Business Secretary who, based upon some rather dubious ‘research’, has suggested that the housing crisis in England could be solved if only developers are allowed to build new houses on golf courses (especially in Surrey!). Meanwhile in the U.S. a scientist has published an article entitled ‘Why the Decline of Golf is Good News for the Environment’ and we learn that on Sunday President Obama played his 200th round of golf since moving into the White House – the suggestion being that the President has far better things to do with his time.

Golf’s supporters should follow Sandy’s example and meet the critics head on.
