The ‘Tiger Effect’

March 16th, 2018

Earlier this week we reported on the impact that the return of Tiger Woods has had in the media so far this year. Now we learn that NBC, who were televising the Valspar Championship in which Tiger finished runner-up to Paul Casey last weekend, reported record viewing figures as the best for years.

As BBC golf correspondent Iain Carter comments, “Woods grabs the limelight because his astonishing resurgence has sent a bolt of electricity through the game. The fact he was in contention at Innisbrook over the weekend generated huge sporting attention around the world.”

After the first round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational Tiger is in contention again. It looks like being another exciting weekend.
