The Olympics – who’s playing?

May 10th, 2016

There’s been more than enough publicity about who isn’t go to play golf at Rio this summer; it’s time to concentrate on who will be there.

With the support of the International Golf Federation, the PGAs of Europe have this week launched a portal which not only explains the Olympic Golf Rankings and names the 60 Men and Women who are currently qualified for Olympic selection but also gives details of their coaches, revealing a number of international partnerships.

For example although there are currently only two players from Great Britain qualified to play in the Men’s event (Danny Willett and Justin Rose) and two from Ireland (Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry) there are ten players in the list with a coach who is a member of the PGA of GB & Ireland.

The final rankings will be those that apply on 11th July so for many players an Olympic place is still a possibility. The PGAs of Europe portal will be a great way of following the ups and downs.
