Following the February announcement that Diageo, the owners of Gleneagles – the luxurious hotel and golf resort that hosted the 2014 Ryder Cup – had appointed property firm Jones Lang LaSalle to look for potential buyers, word is that there are two bidders in the running.
One is said to be KSL Capital Partners, the US-based firm which owns The Belfry (amongst many other properties), but, as yet, the other bidder is unknown.
This is not the first time that Diageo has been said to be considering offers. A few weeks ago a spokesperson was reported as saying, “Gleneagles is one of the UK’s finest luxury hotels and one of the world’s most fantastic golf resorts. We are sure there are many people who would love to own Gleneagles and have received numerous expressions of interest over the years, and particularly since the Ryder Cup. As you would expect, we have a duty to consider such interest carefully.”
