New European Golf Merchandise Show is major talking point

October 26th, 2016

My expectation that last week’s announcement would attract a lot of comment has been fulfilled, although several correspondents asked that at this stage their views should be treated as ‘off the record’.

One notable exception is Eddie Reid, Managing Director of TGI, who said, “The appetite for a golf trade show has declined over the years, which is why the major PGA and PGAs of Europe shows in Harrogate and Germany have been postponed for the time being.

“The needs of both exhibitors and delegates need to be considered and as market forces and ‘go-to-market’ strategies change, so will the need for the provision of an exhibition. It will be interesting to see if this new, independent, show bucks the trend – is it merely an attempt to fill the needs of the organisers or the industry as a whole?”

No doubt the comments will continue.
