Making a Fortune

May 4th, 2012

Question: How do you make a small fortune out of golf?

Answer: Start with a big fortune and build a golf course.

It’s an old joke but worth repeating for two very good reasons.  This week we carry news of a new marketing campaign for Blarney Golf Resort, now on the market for a mere €7m., which is a fraction of what the Resort cost to develop.

Also, thanks to ‘The Sunday Times’, we carry a ‘sneak preview’ of Golf’s Rich List, due for publication on 6th May, headed by Sir Nick Faldo with £34m, who is estimated to have added £2m to his fortune in the last year. The list makes fascinating reading and carries a cautionary tale of what can happen when you buy the wrong sort of executive jet!
