Golf’s Green Credentials

July 6th, 2012

A recurring topic in this week’s news is Golf’s ever-growing awareness of its important responsibility for the environment.  From the announcement that Coventry Golf Club has become the first club in England to be awarded the international ecolabel GEO Certified™, through the extract from the agenda of the 2012 KPMG Golf Business Forum which states that ‘Sustainability is arguably the most important issue affecting golf development today’ to the news of the multi-agency ‘Green Drive’ approach  to The Ryder Cup Matches at Gleneagles in 2014 the message is clear: Golf takes its ‘Green Credentials’ very seriously indeed.

In the matter of the proposed Bushmills Dunes Golf Resort and Spa near the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland, would the National Trust, Friends of the Earth and UNESCO please note?
