Better than Working

June 7th, 2013

The distinguished professional golfer (five times The Open Champion) and now successful golf course architect, Peter Thomson was interviewed this week at KPMG’s Golf Business Forum at St Andrews. Asked to describe his career, he said that it had been “better than working!”

It has always seemed to me that most people in the golf business enjoy their jobs most of the time. Of course, that does not for one moment that they are not also extremely professional, knowledgeable and hard-working. I am reminded of another legend of the game, Gary Player, who famously said, “The more that I practise, the luckier I get!”

I hope you take pleasure from reading this week’s and the ‘essential intelligence for the business of golf’ that it contains. It’s all part of the fun!
