Another ‘Round with Alliss’ please

November 18th, 2014

It is with great pleasure that we report that Peter Alliss, ‘The Voice of Golf’, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Services to the Golf Industry at last weekend’s ‘World Golf Awards’.

In addition to being BBC TV’s leading commentator at The Open Championship for more than 50 years, Peter Alliss brought us a range of popular TV shows: A Round with Alliss, Pro-Celebrity Golf and Golfer’s Travels. All these programmes helped to make the game more familiar and more popular.

With ‘reality tv’ shows taking up more and more hours of prime time television and covering a variety of activities, isn’t it time that some enterprising broadcaster re-invented the Alliss formula and made golf more accessible once again?
