Golf Industry News - associate membership scheme

The English Golf Union has identified that there are membership vacancies at over 75% of its 1,890 affiliated golf clubs. The EGU says that these figures confirm the need to invest in grass roots initiatives to encourage more people into the game and ultimately help them into golf club membership

The EGU has today announced three commercial tie-ins that will run for at least another year: Titleist and Footjoy Worldwide will support the EGU and England International teams; Prosimmon and Sportsmatch will continue to support the Associate Membership scheme and Marsh Sport & Leisure together with Royal and SunAlliance will provide grant aid to help golf clubs coach more young people

The EGU has again agreed to support the PGA with its initiative to introduce more people to the game through BAE Systems National Golf Week from 21st April to 1st May 2000
