A limited number of spectators will be able to ‘pay at the gates’ for the Walker Cup which is being played this week at Royal County Down on Saturday and Sunday 8th – 9th September.
In announcing this news, which is bound to be welcomed by golf fans in Ireland, David Hill, director of championships for The R&A said, “We initially intended permitting 8,000 spectators in on each of the two days but in May decided to increase the daily attendance to 10,000.
“There are still roughly 1,000 tickets left for each day and will be allowing these spectators to pay at the gates.”
Parking remains fee-of-charge and a daily ticket costs £25.
Each day’s play consists of four morning foursomes stating at 8.30 a.m. and eight afternoon singles.
