The new GolfZon simulator in the Golf Academy features the Old Course at St Andrews, Pebble Beach, Bay Hill and many more of the world’s leading golf venues.

Renowned for hosting a Ryder Cup described as the “greatest ever” in 2010, Celtic Manor now gives visiting golfers the chance to play many more of the most famous holes in world golf on the simulator.

Its indoor setting also means golfers can escape the winter wet weather while still enjoying a realistic “virtual golf” experience. Golfers use real golf clubs to hit real golf balls into a large screen depicting the golf hole they are playing. The simulator works out how far the ball would have travelled by reading the speed and trajectory of the ball as it makes impact with the screen.

Golfers need to adjust to tee, fairway, green, rough and even bunker lies when hitting from the synthetic mat surface. Moving floor technology means even the slope of the land is factored into each shot, something that sets GolfZon apart from other simulators.

“The new simulator is a great addition to our golf facilities,” said Celtic Manor golf services manager Peter Smyth. “It means groups of golfers can enjoy playing many of the world’s best golf courses without leaving the comfort of the Golf Academy. It is ideal for those who do not have time for a full round or as a way of warming up for a game on one of our three championship courses.”

The GolfZon simulator is also a great addition to corporate golf days and can be set to nearest the pin and longest drive challenges to get any event off to a fun, competitive start.

The simulator is available to book at hourly rates from 8.00 am until 8.00 pm every day.
