First signing for PGAs of Europe Prestige Collection

5.40pm 4th April 2007 - Travel

The Celtic Manor Resort, venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup, has become the first resort to sign up to the PGAs of Europe Prestige Collection.

The Prestige Collection will be made up of a limited number of high-quality golf resorts throughout Europe each boasting the highest standards of service and the very best facilities. The five-star Celtic Manor Resort comfortably fulfils all these requirements and has been awarded the PGAs of Europe mark of guaranteed quality.

Gareth Rees Jones, Celtic Manor’s head of marketing, said, “We are proud to be at the forefront of the PGAs of Europe Prestige collection and to be the flagship resort. We offer some of the finest golf and leisure facilities in Europe and with two new golf courses opening this year – the Montgomerie and The Ryder Cup Course – this is a very exciting time for people to visit Celtic Manor.”

PGAs of Europe Prestige Collection business development director Phil Richins said, “There is little doubt Celtic Manor is one of the finest golf resorts in Europe and it is fitting that a Ryder Cup venue of the future should be at the forefront of this project. Celtic Manor really is the perfect resort to be the inaugural member because of its excellent facilities and golfing heritage.

“We are in discussion with numerous other resorts and courses in a number of countries to join us and have already secured affiliation deals with some of the world’s most recognised brands, including Mercedes Benz.

“The PGAs of Europe Prestige Collection stamp of excellence ensures visitors are guaranteed a high standard of service across the board. To ensure it retains a high-level of delivery the scheme will remain exclusive, only awarding its recognition to four resorts per country.”

Initially the collection will focus on the UK before expanding to take in continental Europe, the Middle East and beyond – but always maintaining its mark of guaranteed quality.
