The Golf Foundation hosted a luncheon in London earlier today at which their Patron, His Royal Highness The Duke of York, was guest of honour. Also on the guest list were leading figures from the golf industry, golf’s governing bodies and corporate sponsors of The Golf Foundation. His Royal Highness thanked those present for their support and sponsorship in 1999 but took the opportunity to stress that more funds are urgently needed to enhance current programmes and ensure that golf catches up with some of the excellent development work that is being carried out in other sports.
