The 2010 BMW PGA Championship once again exceeded all expectations as a record crowd of over 88,000 basked in glorious summer-like weather at the Wentworth Club to watch the strongest field of the year battle it out over the re-modelled West Course for the coveted title.
The week also proved to be a tremendous success for title partner BMW as the largest ever number of BMW owners flocked to Wentworth to make use of the BMW Owners Car Park and the facilities at the stunning BMW Owners Lounge. In addition the wide-range of fantastic spectator activities in the tented village resulted in unsurpassed numbers of new car enquiries.
Out on the golf course the BMW Viewing Gallery overlooking the 14th green proved to be a popular watering hole as thirsty spectators sought refuge from the blazing temperatures.
Commenting on the week BMW Managing Director Tim Abbott said “This has been an incredible week with for everyone involved with the BMW PGA Championship. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and the response from the public has been overwhelming. We are delighted to be continuing our involvement with this great championship for another four years and we will be striving to improve it in each successive year.”
BMW also reaffirmed its commitment to professional golf by announcing that it will continue its title sponsorship of the BMW PGA Championship for a further four years until 2014. Additionally the company will continue its relationship with the European Tour by being the Official Partner and Official Car of the 2010 Ryder Cup Matches at Celtic Manor.
There have been 38 BMW events on The European Tour International Schedule, including this year’s BMW PGA Championship – 21 BMW International Opens, 7 BMW Asian Opens, 6 BMW PGA Championships, 2 BMW Russian Opens and 2 BMW Italian Opens.
