Lynx Golf is celebrating its first Professional Tour win after playing ambassador Paul Eales lifted the Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open at Archerfield Links.
The 53-year-old from Southport claimed his maiden title on the over-50s circuit using a Parallax driver and a combination of Parallax irons and Lynx Tour Blades, using the more forgiving irons in 4-6 lofts but relying on Lynx’s premium blades for feel from 7-PW.
With wife Sharon caddying on his Lynx Tour bag, Eales was seven shots off the lead heading into the closing round, but a fine four-under par 68 for an 11-under total of 205 gave him a one shot win over Peter Fowler and the 2013 champion, Santiago Luna.
Eales has now won at all three levels of the European professional game, with the Scottish Senior Open adding to his 1991 Audi Open success on the Challenge Tour and 1994 Extremadura Open win on the main European Tour.
Said Eales: “It’s extremely special to join a small band of brothers who have won on all three Tours. To win a title in Scotland, the home of golf, is a privilege.”
Eales was one of the first ambassadors to sign with Lynx Golf when the brand relaunched in the UK and became a family-owned company under the guidance of golf-loving husband and wife team, Steve Elford and Stephanie Zinser.
The pair were on holiday in Los Angeles as Eales lifted the trophy, and Lynx CEO Elford said: “Firstly, we are delighted for Paul. He is a huge fan of growing golf, especially amongst the young, and for all that he and Sharon personally put into the sport he thoroughly deserves to reap some rewards. This win is a fitting tribute to his skill and commitment to the game.
“As far as Lynx Golf is concerned, we are confident that we produce golf equipment that is of superlative quality and the fact the Paul has won, not with bespoke clubs made only for him, but with equipment available to every player, underscores the point strongly. We are delighted to see our clubs in the hands of a winning champion like Paul as both he and we know they really do work.”
With over 650 active accounts, Lynx now boasts three permanent Demo Day staff available for both stockists and non-stockists, and they remain one of the most forward-thinking companies in golf.
Lynx is dedicated to supporting ‘green grass’ Pro shop business and to offering exceptional equipment for use by golfers at all skill levels.
* Eales used a Lynx Parallax driver with Project X stiff shaft and Grip Master leather grip. He played Lynx Parallax irons 4-6 and Lynx Tour Blades 7-PW fitted with Nippon NSPro 950 stiff shafts and leather grips.
