Open Championship discount

12.00pm 24th January 2002 - Sponsorship

Spectators are reminded of the maximum discounts that are still available on Open Championship season tickets if purchased before the end of January. Until then, a season ticket giving access to Muirfield for all eight days of practice and championship play can be purchased for £110, a saving of almost 50% on the daily admission rates.

“We are installing 20,000 stand seats at this year’s Open which will provide even better viewing facilities for spectators at what is recognised as one of the finest courses on the Open circuit,” said, David Hill, Championship secretary of the R&A.

Muirfield most recently hosted the Open in 1992 when Nick Faldo repeated his 1987 win over these same links. He followed that by also winning at St Andrews in 1990. However for many of the world’s top players, including David Duval the defending champion and Tiger Woods, this will be their first time playing competitively over the East Lothian links where the Open has been played on 14 previous occasions.

A limited number of composite tickets and 18th green reserved stand seats are still available.
