Nike Golf renews sponsorship at SNGC

8.00am 1st March 2002 - Sponsorship & Events

Nike Golf has announced an extension of its sponsorship of The National Golf Academy at the Scottish National Golf Centre in Drumoig.

The existing 3-year contract has been extended by another three years, until December 2004, and will provide the Academy and Nike with a deal that includes the supply of all balls for the driving range, as well as Tour Accuracy golf balls for the short game indoor centre. In addition to this all Centre staff will wear uniforms selected from the Nike Golf 2002 apparel and footwear range and from June all teaching professionals will be using the new Nike clubs that were recently launched at the PGA merchandise show in Orlando.

Nike Golf will benefit from dedicated retail areas within the Academy as well as exclusive branding rights in the short game centre and the driving range. The Centre will also be running a series of golf camps throughout the duration of the deal that Nike will sponsor, attracting junior, adult and senior golfers alike.

John Trainor, general manager, Nike Golf Europe said, “We have built an excellent relationship with the Academy over the last three years and are very pleased that we have had the opportunity to get further involved with all concerned.”

This latest deal has also been warmly welcomed by the National Academy. Neil Simpson, general manager of the centre said: “We are absolutely delighted that Nike’s sponsorship has been secured for another 3 years. It comes as a major boost to the Academy and reaffirms the high quality that we are continuing to deliver to our customers.

“To have a company as high profile as Nike pledge their support to what we are trying to achieve here is very encouraging. It is only right that the Academy at the SNGC should associate itself with one of the leading brands in the golf industry and the leading sports brand in the world.”

Nike Golf, located in Beaverton, Oregon, has a policy of honoring and respecting the traditions and heritage of the game.
