Hilton Worldwide, the world’s largest hospitality company, has announced a sponsorship deal with young UK golfer Tyrrell Hatton, commencing this week at the Abu Dhabi Championship (15-18 January).
During his rookie year on The European Tour in 2014, Tyrrell produced one of the best ever debut seasons earning €850,000 in prize money with five top 10 finishes. Most notably he challenged at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai where he finished in a very impressive 6th place.
The agreement will see the Hilton logo featured on both Hatton’s cap and golf bag during the 2015 season at all European Tour events. Personal appearances and social media campaigns will link to the extensive Hilton Worldwide golf offering including hotels, hospitality and Hilton HHonors customer loyalty rewards.
The sponsorship of Tyrell Hatton complements the recent three-year global supplier agreement signed with The European Tour. The initial arrangement will see Hilton host Tour staff in its many properties that have proximity to events taking place across the world, particularly in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. It will see also Hilton advertising on The European Tour’s various channels, including europeantour.com.
British-born Tyrrell, 23, turned professional in 2011 and competed on the EuroPro Tour and Jamega Tour where he recorded four wins within 12 months. This led to invitations to play the Challenge Tour in 2012 where he secured his card for 2013. Finishing 10th on the Challenge Tour in 2013 he graduated to The European Tour for the 2014 season.
Speaking of the partnership, Tyrrell said: “I’m thrilled to be teaming up with a brand as prestigious as Hilton for The European Tour 2015. It promises to be an exciting season and it’s a real boost to be teeing off backed by a global organisation renowned for providing excellent facilities and courses for players of all levels to enjoy.”
Aligi Gardenghi, Vice President Marketing, Europe, Middle East & Africa for Hilton Worldwide, commented: “The outstanding performances of Tyrrell Hatton in his rookie season firmly established his reputation as one of the future talents of The European Tour. Our partnership with him is another step on a journey that we hope will bring fans closer to the excitement of The European Tour via social campaigns and exclusive experiences for Hilton Worldwide customers at major tournaments. We wish Tyrrell the best of luck for the season ahead.”
Hilton Worldwide has more than 50 properties with connected or associated golf courses. These include the likes of Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah in UAE, Conrad Algarve in Portugal, and Hilton Belfast Templepatrick in Northern Ireland. Official hotel partnerships are in place for forthcoming European Tour events including Hilton Sandton for the Joburg Open and the Doubletree by Hilton for the Maybank Malaysian Open, with discussions underway for additional opportunities.
