One of club golf’s great prizes will again be up for grabs in 2016 with the agreement of a sponsorship extension for the Golfplan Insurance PGA Pro-Captain Challenge.

The specialist golf insurance provider will back the £25,000 tournament for a further year with parent company Sompo Canopius the support sponsors.

More than 600 club captains and pros are set to compete in 10 regional finals with one pair from each going through to compete at Turkey’s Antalya Golf Club which will host the 36-hole grand final over the impressive PGA Sultan course from November 30-December 1.

Online entries are open with qualifiers set to get underway in August with the ten regional finals hosted at Broadstone, Haggs Castle, Enville, Bowood, Dunham Forest, Rudding Park, The Addington, Luttrellstown Castle, Northants Count and Kings Lynn.

Golfplan, which offers comprehensive Golf Insurance with the needs of the club golfer at its core, is building a growing reputation among golfers for delivering comprehensive golf coverage combined with strong customer service. This is achieved by forging closer ties with PGA Professionals and golf club members.

Worcester-based Golfplan offers extensive cover with benefits including ‘new for old’ replacement of equipment; cover for golf club membership fees while injured or ill; 24-hour cover for theft of equipment from cars; and personal liability cover of £5 million.

As part of the sponsorship, Golfplan recognises the role and importance of PGA Professionals and will explore further opportunities that make the PGA pro integral to its long term aims.

Tony Southern, Head of Distribution, Sompo Canopius UK Speciality Division said: “We are delighted to extend our sponsorship of the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge.

“We are firmly committed to growing the Golfplan brand and this sponsorship is helping forge closer relationships with golf professionals and club members to ensure that our superior insurance products are readily available to match our golfing customers’ needs.”

PGA chief executive Sandy Jones commented: “Golfplan Insurance have been tremendous sponsors of the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge for the past three years in which the event has gone from strength to strength.

“They are firmly committed to providing an excellent service and their support of the tournament offers a great opportunity to bring together the PGA pro and club captain.”
