‘Golf Pages’ sponsors Trickshot Championship

12.10am 6th June 2005 - Sponsorship & Events

‘The Golf Pages’, an official publication of the Professional Golfers’ Association, has taken on the title sponsorship of today’s World Golf Trickshot Championship at Celtic Manor. The event will be known as The Golf Pages World Golf Trickshot Championship.
Paul Smith, a director of The Golf Pages WGTSC, said, “We are delighted The Golf Pages has joined forces with us for the inaugural event. Just as our competition is a little bit different, so is ‘The Golf Pages’ a change from the normal golf magazine. For a start it’s the only consumer voice of the PGA – and that tells you a lot.”
David Ward, publisher of ‘The Golf Pages’, was also happy with the agreement. “The Golf Pages World Golf Trickshot Championship is a unique event and ours is a unique magazine,” he explained. “We have been talking to the organisers for the past couple of months and we were delighted to reach an agreement. The competition will be intense I’m sure, but it will also be great fun.”
A dozen of the world’s top exponents will compete for the title of The Golf Pages World Golf Trickshot champion. Competitors have the chance to perform a short set of just over 10 minutes before the judges make their selection of three finalists based on technical merit, entertainment value and presentation style.
The resulting three-way final gives the competitors a last opportunity to show off their dazzling tricks before a winner is selected. With £20,000 at stake, some tense excitement is guaranteed
The judging panel is headed by Sky Sports commentator Ewen Murray. Fellow commentator Robert Lee and tour player Mark Roe complete the line-up.
