Golf fans will be able to see a world-class field free of charge when The European Open returns to The London Golf Club in Kent, England, for the second successive year from 28-31 May, 2009.
The 32nd edition of The European Open is set to announce one of the strongest fields in The European Tour’s inaugural Race to Dubai and spectators can now apply online to obtain free day tickets in advance of the tournament.
Following the huge success of The European Open’s ‘free ticket Thursday’ last year, which attracted nearly 24,000 spectators, the offer of free admission has now been extended to include all four days of the tournament to be held at the North Kent venue close to Brands Hatch.
Leisurecorp, partners to The European Tour in The Race to Dubai and co-promoters of The European Open, introduced free admission at the South African Open in December 2008 to great success, with record crowds attending its Pearl Valley Golf Estates venue.
David Spencer, Leisurecorp CEO-Golf, said, “’Free ticket Thursday’ was a huge success last year and the 2008 South African Open was the most successful in the tournament’s history, with record crowds and an electric atmosphere.
“We want to create the same kind of experience at The European Open and reach out to as many people as possible, whether they’re new to the sport or seasoned golf fans. With free admission, plenty of entertainment in the village for all ages, and some big names still to be announced, we can promise a true celebration of golf at the London Club this May.”
The European Open will be an important stage in The Race to Dubai, a thrilling journey culminating with the Dubai World Championship at the Earth course, Jumeirah Golf Estates, from November 19-22, 2009.
To apply online for passes giving free access to The European Open at The London Golf Club spectators should visit www.europeantourtickets.com. The offer is open to one application per e-mail address and visitors can apply for up to four ‘Any One Day’ tickets. It means individuals can either gain free access to all four days or alternatively attend one day’s play in the company of three friends or family members. The offer is open until Wednesday 20th May.
Thereafter, anyone attending the BMW PGA Championship from 21-24 May can apply for the free ticket offer at a dedicated European Tour Tickets Unit in the tented village at Wentworth Club.
‘Any One Day’ tickets will be priced at £25 on the gate with reductions for senior citizens. Juniors 16 and under will be admitted free of charge when in the company of an adult. Car parking is free.
