De Vere and EventScotland announce the return of the Ladies Scottish Open. The tournament which will take place at the Carrick at Cameron House from the 20th – 22nd September is returning to the Ladies European Tour (LET) calendar after an eleven year absence.
Following the success of the Ricoh Women’s British Open in St Andrews, interest in ladies’ golf in Scotland is at an all time high. There is set to be a strong Scottish contingent within the field and welcoming players from around the world to the newly opened Carrick course will be Mhairi McKay, Janice Moodie and recent winner of the Scandinavian TPC, Catriona Matthew.
Commenting on the tournament Catriona Matthew said, “As a Scottish player, I am extremely excited about this event. To play this great new Scottish course is any golfers dream. The absence of this tournament from the LET schedule has been felt by the Scottish players in particular but everyone is now looking forward to the competition in September.”
The players will compete in a 54 hole stroke play tournament at the newly opened course. Alan Tait, director of golf at the Carrick said of the course, “The Carrick has been the most eagerly anticipated course opening in Scotland in recent times. The course which sits on the banks of Loch Lomond is unique in that, the front nine holes are in the lowlands of Scotland and the back nine are in the highlands. At 7,100 yards from the championship tees, the course is a true test of golf and challenges the golfer to every shot possible in the game of golf.”
Paul Bush, acting chief operating officer at EventScotland said, “EventScotland and De Vere have worked very hard over the last year to ensure the successful return of a Ladies European Tour event to Scotland after such a prolonged absence. Given this importance, it is fitting that the tournament will take place at such an outstanding venue as The Carrick.
“Golf is a crucial part of EventScotland’s work in building Scotland’s image as a destination for major events, and women’s golf is an important part of this. As such the De Vere Ladies Scottish Open provides yet another opportunity to showcase Scotland as The Home of Golf.”
