Cobra Golf announced that three-time European Tour winner Johan Edfors, 34, has signed an endorsement deal with Cobra Golf, in which he will play the company’s innovative golf club range.

Already endorsing PUMA Golf’s apparel and footwear, the European Tour veteran will play Cobra equipment and will be featured in future marketing campaigns, as well as consumer and trade events.

“Johan’s performance and visibility on the course make him the perfect ambassador for Cobra Golf, and his signing demonstrates our focus and expansion in the European market,” said Bob Philion, President of COBRA-PUMA GOLF. “As a long hitter, Cobra clubs are well suited to his game. He has a bright future ahead as a professional golfer, and we’re thrilled to have him now representing Cobra.”

Known for his 300-plus-yard tee shots, Edfors will undoubtedly reap the benefits of Cobra’s exclusive 9 Point Face Technology in his Cobra driver and fairway woods. He will also use the Cobra Baffler, which provides superior distance, control and versatility with long approach shots. Edfors is also regarded as having an imaginative short game, which is why he’ll particularly benefit from playing Cobra’s Pro CB irons.

Edfors, who enjoys traveling the globe to play the European Tour, is looking forward to his endorsement role with the company. “I’m really excited to be involved now with Cobra Golf,” says Edfors. “This brand has been all about innovation, technology and performance.  I chose Cobra because I’m convinced that my new Cobra clubs will help me perform better.”

The Varberg, Sweden native and former member of the University of Texas at San Antonio golf team turned pro in 1997 and spent several years playing the Challenge Tour, where he won twice in 2003 and topped its Order of Merit. In 2006, Edfors captured the European Tour’s TCL Classic, Quinn Direct British Masters and Scottish Open. Those three victories catapulted him into the Official World Golf Rankings’ top 50 in July of that year, and he finished the season in 10th place on the European Tour Order of Merit. He had two top 10 finishes in 2007 and another five in 2008. In 2009, he won the Asian Tour’s inaugural Black Mountain Masters in Thailand. This year, Edfors has played in six European Tour events with his strongest finish to date a T8 at the Scottish Open.

Heavily influenced by their avid-golfer parents, both Edfors and his sister Christina played for the Swedish National Team as amateurs. An avid athlete with the potential to play tennis professionally, Edfors also enjoys water sports, jet skiing and music. He works hard on maintaining a fit physique and also personally hosts and organises the annual Johan Edfors Junior Open at his home club in Sweden.
