Charity event in 14th year

8.00am 18th February 2002 - Sponsorship & Events

Club captains and secretaries have been invited to nominate one of their club’s medal tournaments as a Help the Aged Golf Championship qualifier. The event’s final will be played at last year’s Open Championship venue, Royal Lytham & St Anne’s.

The Help the Aged Golf Championship, supported by Golden Charter, is in its fourteenth year. With the support of over 300 UK clubs, as well as Ryder Cup Captain Sam Torrance, the championship has helped to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds. This year’s tournament sees the introduction of a number of changes to add interest and benefit to club members.

“We’re very excited about this year’s new championship,” says Steve Jones, director of communications & marketing at Help the Aged. “Not only does it give club golfers a fun opportunity to play some fantastic courses but also the chance to win trips abroad as well as raising some very important funds for older people”.
