Callaway Powers Brown To Maiden Tour Victory

11.30am 28th October 2019 - Sponsorship & Events

Callaway Staff Professional Steven Brown played a flawless final round at the Portugal Masters to come from three shots back to win his maiden European Tour title.

The victory secured the Englishman, using a full bag of Callaway and Odyssey equipment, his playing rights for next season and included a final round eagle on the par-5 12th hole, set up by a stunning approach using his Epic Flash 15° fairway wood.

Immediately after victory on the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura, a jubilant Brown said: “Victory is hard to put into words, I don’t think it has really sunk in. It is just amazing. The shot I hit into the 12th was probably the best shot I have ever hit, it could not have been more perfect.”

The 32-year-old set up his final day charge with a third round 65, his best of the season, adding to rounds of 69 and 67 on the previous days. His one-shot, 17-under-par triumph, and a €250,000 winner’s cheque, also catapulted him up the Race to Dubai rankings, ensuring he plays the season-ending Rolex Series events.

Neil Howie, Managing Director and President of Callaway Golf EMEA, said: “Huge congratulations to Steven. He played superbly the previous week at the Amundi Open de France, finishing tied 11th, so he went into this tournament knowing his game was in good shape. He displayed the heart of a champion on the final day, and thoroughly deserves his maiden title.”

Callaway drivers have over 50 worldwide victories so far in 2019, and Epic Flash is the No.1 driver model across the major worldwide Tours, while Odyssey is the most used putter brand.
