The PGA has fired the first shots in the 2015 PGA Cup between Great Britain & Ireland and the United States with the first in a series of videos to promote the biennial event which is the club pros’ Ryder Cup.

James Whatley, who was just 24 when he was part of the 2007 team that narrowly missed out on a first ever GB&I win on US soil at Reynolds Plantation, Georgia, relives his experiences of the contest in the five minute film.

Cut with footage from the 2007 encounter, Whatley gives a fascinating insight into representing GB&I, his passion for the competition and explains why Jon Bevan is the perfect choice to captain the 2015 team. To view the video click here

The 27th PGA Cup between Great Britain & Ireland and the PGA of America will take place at CordeValle, California from 18-20 September.

The GB&I team is determined by the top three finishers in the 2014 PGA Play-Offs and the six leading points scorers over two years in the 2014 and 2015 Titleist & FootJoy PGA Professional Championship with one captain’s pick.

The three players already qualified from the PGA Play-Offs for the 2015 PGA Cup team are Niall Kearney (Royal Dublin), Jason Levermore (Channels) and David Dixon (Enmore Park).
