EGU and Your Golf Holidays in three year deal

7.40am 7th May 2008 - Sponsorship & Events

The English Golf Union (EGU) has announced a new sponsorship deal with Your Golf Holidays that will see the specialist golf tour operator supporting a number of initiatives for both clubs and golfers throughout England.

The three-year agreement will kick off with the sponsorship of the biennial England vs. France International match that is taking place at Frilford Heath Golf Club, Oxfordshire this weekend.

The sponsorship is the first to be secured for the ‘cross channel’ battle which will see England’s elite amateurs looking for a repeat of the last match played at the splendid Oxfordshire course when they secured a 16-8 victory.

In addition, Your Golf Holidays will also be the first title sponsor of the English Amateur Championship, which takes place this year at The National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa, the home of the EGU. They will also be providing prizes and special offers to members of the EGU’s English Golf Captains programme as well as sponsoring a Your Golf Holidays club competition, supplying drawsheets and prizes to those clubs who choose to participate.

Morgan Clarke, owner of Your Golf Holidays said, “To help the grassroots of the game that I have played since I was eight years old is a true pleasure and I am sure that our clients will benefit from the partnership as well. Through our partnership, we hope to assist in making more people take up our great game and to help current players have even more fun. I’m really looking forward to the relationship – the team at the EGU are professional, hard-working and they have a genuine love of golf. Plus, I may get to play at Woodhall Spa a couple of times!”

Lynne Fraser, EGU marketing and pr manager added, “The long term investment by Your Golf Holidays is a great boost. We are delighted to be working with a company that is renowned for their service and is eager to work with EGU clubs and their members. Everyone at the EGU is looking forward to developing this new relationship.”

There is no charge to attend the England vs. France International and both the EGU and Your Golf Holidays are encouraging visitors to attend the event, which provides a great opportunity to see the highest quality of play from future world stars.

Previous golfers who have played in the England vs. France match include Nick Dougherty, Justin Rose and Grà©gory Bourdy who have all gone onto professional success.
