HLL Humberts Leisure, the property specialists to the golf and golf hotel industries, reports the sale of Rye Hill Golf Club, Oxfordshire, which completed on 30th January 2009. The property, which included a 4 bedroom farmhouse and has planning consent for a courtyard of holiday apartments, has been sold to a Mr and Mrs Spencer.

The sale price was not disclosed.

Rye Hill Golf Club is located close to Banbury and the M40, some 22 miles from central Oxford and 48 miles from central Birmingham. The Club comprises an 18 hole 6,904 yard (par 72) golf course laid out to a modified Donald Steel design; a 3 hole golf academy with unique 9 hole children’s first step to golf course; a large practice ground; fishing lake; and a well appointed, two storey clubhouse offering extensive conference / function facilities.

Rye Hill Golf Club is an established proprietary golf business that was offered to the market as a retirement sale. The Club has around 900 members comprising a mix of executive members (a points based membership system) and traditional 7 & 5 day golf membership. The business offers great potential for commercialisation, which was one of the attractions for the purchasers.

The sale was handled by Ben Allen BSc (Hons) MRICS at HLL Humberts Leisure. Ben Allen said ‘Rye Hill Golf Club is a fine proprietary golf club that has been developed to a good standard. The sale of Rye Hill Golf Club is further evidence that the golf sector remains attractive to the market despite all the current economic gloom.
