The Concession Golf Club is honoured that David Leadbetter, the world’s top golf instructor and coach, has become The Concession’s Instruction Advisor and a club member. Leadbetter, who is credited with inventing the golf instruction industry, has coached more than 100 top PGA TOUR, LPGA Tour, Champions Tour and European Tour professionals. The legendary instructor is recognized for his innovative and creative teaching techniques.
“To have David elect to make The Concession his ‘home away from home’ for conducting private lessons and providing instruction to our members is an arrangement whose value is incalculable,” stated club General Manager Bruce Cassidy, Jr. “David’s expertise is sought after by the game’s leading tour pros and highly ranked amateurs. To see him work with students and Concession Club members on our extensive practice facilities is like watching an artist.”
Last week, Leadbetter conducted an instructional clinic at The Concession for members and his special guests included LPGA Tour players Sandra Gal and Jodi Ewart Shadoff, Champions Tour professional Andy Bean and Dr. Bob Winters. Bean and Ewart Shadoff also are club members.
Leadbetter, a PGA Master Professional, also has authored seven instruction books whose combined sales are well over two million copies sold. The world headquarters of the David Leadbetter Golf Academy is based at Champions Gate in Orlando and there are 27 other branded full-time golf academies located in 13 countries.
The Concession Golf Club was founded to commemorate the extraordinary gesture of sportsmanship that Jack Nicklaus made at the 1969 Ryder Cup at Royal Birkdale when he conceded a two-foot putt to Britain’s Tony Jacklin to halve their match, which resulted in the first-ever tie in the history of the matches. The moment became known as “the concession.” The course is a Jack Nicklaus Signature design in association with Tony Jacklin, and in 2006 The Concession Golf Club was voted by Golf Digest as the Best New Private Course in the U.S.
