The Carrick on Loch Lomond Names New Golf Course Manager

Having undergone course improvements over the past 12 months, The Carrick on Loch Lomond has appointed Jim Brown, De Vere Group’s Golf Courses Manager, as its new Golf Course Manager. With over 30 years’ experience in golf course maintenance and conditioning, Brown will lead the continued development of De Vere’s stunning resort on the banks of Loch Lomond, whilst maintaining his role as De Vere Group’s Golf Courses Manager. Quickly emerging as one of the country’s best golf and leisure facilities and with the imminent completion of an extensive drainage and bunker redevelopment, Brown will now focus on the enhancement of greens, turf quality and presentation, as the course strives to offer guests the ultimate golf experience.

“Jim is a fantastic addition to our team at The Carrick and we are delighted to have him join us,” commented Ross Whitfield, General Manager, The Carrick on Loch Lomond Golf Club. “He brings a wealth of experience into the role and having been heavily involved in the golf course’s development as De Vere Group Golf Courses Manager, he is already familiar with our assets and goals. Following the work that has been carried out over the past 12 months I’m sure Jim will be an integral part in further enhancing our reputation as one of the UKs leading venues.”

Brown has been with the De Vere Group since 2005 having fulfilled a similar role at De Vere Oulton Hall in Leeds. His significant experience in golf course construction includes over 20 years of golf course management which has seen him preside over several national and international golf tournaments. With the support of the team at The Carrick, Brown will make an immediate impact whilst ensuring the development of the course in the long term. As part of that process he will continue to work closely with the Scottish National Park and course architect, Doug Carrick, to ensure the year-round quality of the courses presentation.

The Carrick sits alongside 10 other De Vere venues throughout theUK as part of the innovative De Vere Club membership. Offering golfers the chance to play year round golf at some of the UK’s best known courses, such as European Tour venues Slaley Hall and Wychwood Park, for just £295, the De Vere Club has welcomed over 8,000 members since being launched in March 2010.
