Golf clubs around Wales are gearing up to help beginners find golfing homes through free taster sessions and low cost lessons throughout April.

As part of the New2Golf scheme run by Golf Development Wales, New2Golf Month supported by the R&A has more than 60 clubs registered across Wales offering excellent deals to encourage people to take up a sport for life.

For example, golfers in North Wales can enjoy a free taster session, with good deals on further lessons and membership, at Clays in Wrexham, or free beginner sessions for women and girls with ongoing deals at Rhuddlan Golf Club, plus many more.

Anyone interested in giving golf a go in West Wales can go to free taster sessions at clubs such as Ashburnham, Aberdovey, Aberystwyth, Glyn Abbey, Gower, Tenby and many more.

South Wales clubs offering special deals to encourage people to take up golf include Celtic Manor, TredegarPark, Radyr, Pyle and Kenfig, Maesteg, LanglandBay and many more.

For full details, including a map of Wales showing the clubs involved to help find the best deals in your area, visit the new Golf Development Wales website and click on the New2Golf Month button at the top of the page www.golfdevelopmentwales.org

“The new website is a fantastic resource for people to locate the various different beginner schemes in their local area,” explained Dan Farmer of Golf Development Wales.

“It shows a fully interactive map of Wales highlighting all the clubs taking part, as well as providing easy links to find out further details and contact information at all of those clubs.

“With 60 clubs in Wales taking part in the latest version of a scheme which has seen thousands get the chance to try golf over the last few years, it is easy for anyone to find where to go.

“For example, one club in Wales had more than 50 New2Golf members as a result of this scheme last year, so we know this works well.

“Golf is such a great sport for life and membership of a club offers so many benefits, we are really excited about the potential of this scheme and coupled with the launch of the new interactive website this is a great time to take up golf in Wales.”
