10.23am 12th December 1999 - NewsSponsorship

When it comes to sponsoring the Ryder Cup, drinking and driving can mix.

Ryder Cup Ltd, a jointly owned subsidiary of both the PGA and the European Tour, have just struck sponsorship deals with Club Car, manufacturers of golf carts, and premium-lager company Michelob.

Club Car will be official sponsors of the 2001 and 2005 Ryder Cup matches, and the 1999 and 2003 European Ryder Cup teams. And Michelob have signed a three-year deal to be the official beer for the European team in Brookline later this month and during the 2001 Ryder Cup at The Belfry.

Club Car’s parent company, Ingersoll-Rand, are sponsors of the US Senior Tour Championship at TPC of Myrtle Beach in November.
