Huxley Golf is delighted to announce its role in the upgrade of innovative practice facilities at the world-renowned St Andrews Links.

The three state-of-the-art teaching bays, which form part of St Andrews’ prestigious Golf Academy, are designed to provide comprehensive facilities for practising driving, iron play, pitching and putting through an innovative approach which encompasses a variety of playing surfaces. Incorporating multiple surfaces into each bay facilitates efficient coaching on all aspects of the game, and is in line with the Academy’s ethos of taking a very individual approach to learning, thus ensuring that the experience is rewarding and enjoyable.

Each of the three indoor bays feature two hitting zones, created with 4.9ft (1.5m) x 9.8ft (3m) Huxley Golf Premier Mat 400, and a 12ft (3.6m) x 2ft (0.6m) putting green produced using Huxley Golf Nylon Indoor Green Turf. Huxley Golf Premier Leisure Turf 35HD surrounds the hitting areas to create a luxurious finish. Finally, for safety, heavy duty netting was incorporated at the front of the bays to complete the look. All Huxley Golf artificial surfaces are manufactured to be tournament quality.  They provide the most realistic playing surface but also withstand wear and tear and require virtually no maintenance to ensure that they are play-ready at all times.

Steve North, Director of Instruction, St Andrews Links, saw opportunities to create better outcomes for his clients and improve efficiency. He commented: “For both clients and coaching staff, the all-encompassing practice bays are tremendously beneficial, enabling us to teach all aspects of the game in one place.  This gives us the flexibility to respond to individual client needs in all lessons. As well as being more convenient and rewarding for our clients, completing a whole session in one place means that we don’t lose momentum or waste valuable time during lessons, helping to ensure that we can keep up with demand.”

Director of Huxley Golf, Paul Huxley, said: “We have a long history of working at St Andrews. It’s always a pleasure to receive a new brief from the management team there as we know that it will be an exciting challenge and one which will allow us to demonstrate our talents in product design and installation, that will ultimately be a showcase to the golfing industry.”

Paul Kirkcaldy, Golf Academy and Junior Golf Manager at St Andrews Links added: “We continually work to evolve and enhance our facilities with the aim of ensuring that we lead where others follow. I am delighted with the newly upgraded facilities.  We know that we can trust Huxley Golf to meet our brief perfectly, deliver first class workmanship and supply the product quality that we are happy to put our name to. I will take great pleasure in seeing our teaching bays used widely by golfers from around the globe.”

Huxley Golf provides premier all-weather surfaces for golf around the world. Clients include training and coaching establishments, golf resorts, ranges and academies as well as many well-known golf courses.
