Foremost members are advised to sign up quick if they want to compete in the 2013 Foremost Golf Professionals Championship, to be played on Monday May 20th over the Championship Course at The MacDonald Portal Hotel in Cheshire.

It is just the third time the Championship has been staged since it was inaugurated back in 2011 but on both previous occasions it was fully booked well in advance.

The added incentive to sign up fast is that the Championship is the only qualifier for members who want to represent Foremost Golf at the annual Ashworth Cup, to be held on Tuesday July 30th to Thursday August 1st on the 2010 (Ryder Cup) course at The Celtic Manor Resort in Wales.

This year, the top eight finishers at Portal will be selected for the 12-man team at Celtic Manor where Foremost Golf will be bidding to beat its rivals TGI and regain the coveted trophy.

“I can confirm that entries for the 2013 Foremost Golf Professionals Championship open at the start of March and expect places to be snapped up pretty fast,” said Paul Hedges, CEO. “We started the Championship back in 2011 because we wanted to give our members the chance to compete for their own Foremost title and it has proved so popular that it has already developed into one of the highlights on the calendar.”

Darren Parris, from North Foreland Golf Club, won the inaugural Championship, staged at South Staffordshire Golf Club, after defeating Richard O’Hanlon, from Lanhydrock, and Simon Thornhill, the professional at Rotherham, on the first hole of a sudden-death play-off. Last year, at the same venue, a play-off was also required before Craig Swinburn, from the RiverbankDrivingRange in Nottinghamshire, edged out Nevil Bland, from Brocton Hall Golf Club, on the fourth extra hole.

The Foremost Golf Professionals Championship is open to all Foremost Head Professionals. Entry forms can be found at www.foremostgolf.co.uk The entry fee is £30 and entries close on May 3rd.

This year competitors can take advantage of a special package deal provided by the host club.

Packages, available on the night of Sunday 19th May, include one practice round, one night’s accommodation, breakfast and three-course dinner for £109.00 (single) or £89.99 each (based on two people sharing a double room). Evening drinks are included.
