The National Golf Foundation, with sponsorship from The R&A, is one year into a three-year project to identify every golf course in the world. Already it has found that there are 189 countries that have at least one golf course.
The NGF has also revised upwards its estimate of the number of golf courses outside the U.S. This was previously thought to be around the same as the 16,000 that there are in the U.S. but the figure has now been revised upwards to around 17,500.
Our conclusion at GBN? Never was there a greater need to grow the number of golfers!
