The PGA is aiming to increase support for its membership with the appointment of business relationship officers to forge stronger links with the golf industry.

Five new recruits have been tasked with providing members with a service designed to impact on their day to day performance as a PGA Professional with the goal of ensuring each enjoys a productive and proactive working relationship with their golf facility.

Operating across Great Britain and Ireland, the officers will build on the efforts of the home unions and other bodies including the United Kingdom Golf Course Owners’ Association in promoting the skills and abilities of members as professionals in the business of golf.

Highlighting the positive impact PGA Professionals can make at clubs, the quintet will offer an advisory service for golf facilities aimed at encouraging the effective recruitment or engagement of Association members.

As part of their remit, the officers will network with PGA regional secretaries and regional coach development officers, as well as the relevant home union officers to ensure that members receive the required level of support in their job role, endeavouring to ensure that the right pro, is in the right place, at the right time.

David Colclough, PGA Head of Member Education, commented: “We are very excited about the service these officers will offer to the membership.

“We have received very positive feedback from all areas of the golf club industry about these appointments and we look forward to engaging with those members who want to take advantage of this member benefit in the very near future.”

This initiative is part of the ‘Raising our Game’ project launched last year which is aimed at encouraging PGA members to be at the heart of golf activity in their venues.

The PGA remains committed to promoting the value of the PGA Professional at the Heart of Golf and sees the appointment of the business officers as an important step in achieving this.
