Award for PING at TGI Show

5.00pm 23rd November 2005 - Corporate

PING won a top golf trade award at the recent TGI Golf Show in Harrogate. Members of the 360 strong buying group, exhibitors and delegates voted PING as the Best Hardware Brand of 2005 in recognition of the success of its top-selling G2 series.
Voters were asked to base their judgement on a number of different criteria – technical innovation, retail price, ability to maintain profit margin and value for money to the customer – and the result was an overwhelming win for the PING brand.
“PING’s G2 series was the hottest hardware range in golf this year and its success meant that many of our delegates were eager to see the new G5 products,” said Eddie Reid, TGI’s golf retail development manager. “This (the G5 range) is an even better range of clubs and an even more appealing proposition to both retailers and customers.”
Reid went on to praise PING’s distribution system. “TGI Golf members also have confidence in PING’s ability to supply its products efficiently. That ensures it gets into the hands of the end user.”
Managing director of PING Europe, John Clark, thanked voters for the award and stressed that he believed the new G5 range would be even more successful than its predecessor.
“PING is delighted to receive the TGI Golf award as the Best Hardware Brand for 2005 and thank everyone who took the trouble to vote for us,” said Clark. “The G2 series was a phenomenal success in all the key golf markets but we believe that success will be eclipsed by the introduction of the new G5.”
The introduction of the G5 series represented the biggest simultaneous launch in PING’s history. The company launched two versions of the new PING G5 driver, G5 fairway woods, G5 irons, i5 irons, a Tour Black Nickel wedge, and eleven new G5i putters in September and that was closely followed by a choice of G5 Hybrid clubs and a wide selection of new golf bags.
