High-Profile Speakers Set for AGIF Conference

4.41pm 26th September 2024 - Exhibitions & Conferences

A host of industry stalwarts will share their knowledge with delegates at the 2024 Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) Conference.

Featuring a high-profile line-up of speakers, the Conference will take place on October 23-24 at the Sime Darby Convention Centre (SDCC), within the grounds of the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC).

The Conference is aligning with the US$3 million Maybank Championship with the richest LPGA Tour event in the region being staged on the KLGCC’s West Course from October 24-27.

While Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, Ayaka Furue, Atthaya Thitikul and Rose Zhang will be gracing the fairways of the award-winning Malaysian club, world-class speakers will be taking to the podium at the SDCC.

Setting the tone will be Chris Gray, Head of Sustainable Golf & Agronomy Asia-Pacific at The R&A and President of the AGIF.

With a focus on club trends, the opening day will also include presentations from DJ Flanders, Executive Vice President of Troon’s International Division, and 59Club’s Simon Wordsworth.

Other key topics under discussion will be turfgrass and golf course renovation.

As well as an update on the AGIF’s R&A-supported Certificate in Greenkeeping from Richard Walne, Brandt Consolidated’s International Sales Manager, Bruce Williams, and Sports Turf Solutions’ Founder, Brad Burgess, will highlight the latest trends in turfgrass.

Meanwhile, Green Dynasty Managing Director, Owen Hester, will be joined by Flagstick President, Martin Moore, and Nelson & Haworth’s Brett Mogg in a panel discussion about golf course renovations.

Looking ahead to the third edition of the AGIF Conference, Gray said: “Not only will the AGIF Conference provide outstanding networking opportunities for delegates, but also will offer the chance to watch the world’s finest female golfers in action on the course.

“We’re especially grateful to the Sime Darby Convention Centre and KLGCC for accommodating us. We look forward to welcoming a wide range of golf industry personnel from around the region for what promises to be a memorable week.”

Located less than 20 minutes from Kuala Lumpur city centre, the Sime Darby Convention Centre is surrounded by greenery and accessible from five major highways.
