Two Yorkshire businessmen who have recently opened two mini indoor putting venues are set to make a television appearance this week as they bid for a financial investment.
Phil Pinder and Ben Fry, who opened immersive wizard golf attractions called ‘The Hole in Wand’ in Blackpool and York over the last two years, are set to appear on BBC show Dragons’ Den tonight (March 23).
They will attempt to persuade the show’s multi-millionaire ‘dragons’, Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies, Deborah Meaden, Peter Jones and Steven Bartlett to invest in a new magical golf course.
The Hole in Wand is a mini golf attraction on Blackpool promenade that features historically-accurate smells and potions. Players have to crawl through fireplaces, walk into giant portraits or drink sparkling potions during their visit to both the Blackpool and York venues.
In October 2018, the businessmen opened ‘The Potions Cauldron’ in York, a shop selling wizard-themed drinks, followed by the debut ‘The Hole in Wand York’ wizard golf attraction in May 2021. Their ‘The Potions Express’ opened at York Train Station selling drinks, snacks and magic-themed gifts in January 2022 before the duo expanded into Blackpool.
To find out whether the pair succeed in their bid for investment, tune into Dragons’ Den on BBC One at 8pm on March 23.
