Golf Club Management Degree College Graduate Wins GCMA Award

12.28pm 3rd December 2021 - Management Topics

Louis Booth, General Manager at Lincoln Golf Club, has won the prestigious “Young Manager of the Year” award at the recent Golf Club Managers’ Association conference. Louis, 26, is a graduate from one of Cornwall College’s golf degree programmes, and with the launch of their new BA (Hons) in Golf Club Management, it could be the start of many more awards for graduates in years to come.

Commenting on the achievement, Alex Lindsay, Head of Golf Programmes at the College, said, “We’re so delighted for Louis on becoming Young Manager of the Year with the GCMA. It’s testament to his hard work and talent – something we saw in him during his studies with Cornwall College. Our new BA (Hons) degree in Golf Club Management will hopefully breed more winners of this award as our graduates from this programme progress with their careers within golf club management.”

The innovative degree course is the first of its kind to require no playing ability element, with the focus purely on management of golf club businesses. Studied over two semesters from September through to April, it also includes an exploration of golf club operations in Portugal and Spain, as well as the final third semester from April to July dedicated to work experience.

Supported by the Golf Club Managers’ Association and leading golf recruitment company, Colt Mackenzie McNair, the course can be undertaken full-time over 3-years or part-time over 6-years.
