Award for TopGolf technology

8.30am 4th October 2002 - Corporate

Repton, traditionally known as suppliers of high quality IT products and class-leading Enterprise IT solutions to the corporate market place, have won the Technology Innovator of the Month award, for their part in the development of the world’s first computerised driving range – TopGolf. The award is held by the IT industry’s leading publications, Computer Reseller News and Computing, and sponsored by Syscap.

The award was presented at TopGolf in Watford by Philip White, Syscap’s sales director.  Repton’s managing director, Greg Carlow, was there to receive the award, along with the Repton’s project manager for TopGolf, Mark Miller.

Repton will gain automatic entry into Technology Innovator of the Year awards, due to take place in November of this year. The success of TopGolf was confirmed last August, when IMG bought the license to market the British concept globally.

In the pipeline there are 29 new TopGolf franchises for the UK with a further 7 sites earmarked for development in Spain. Interest is coming from as far a field as Singapore.

Repton have been commissioned to continue to work on the development of the TopGolf concept and oversee the implementation of the concept to the new sites planned for the UK and Europe over the next 5 years.

“Once we are successfully running these sites remotely, there is no reason why all traditional driving ranges will not adopt our concept. TopGolf is set to revolutionise the way we play golf and has undoubtedly made this incredibly popular game accessible to a far wider market. The future is looking very bright!” says David Joliffe, technical director, World Golf Systems.
