Première Golf mixed business with pleasure on the Costa del Sol

Golfexpo attendance figures confirmed

The organisers confirm that the attendance on the Trade Days of Golfexpo at Birmingham’s NEC was 4,815 and that over the weekend the show was attended by just over 10,000 members of the public. All exhibitors have been invited to review and plan for next year when Golfexpo will be partnered with the Ryder Cup

‘Enormous interest’ in golf memorabilia at Golfexpo 2000

Two bottles of paint netted nearly £2,000, when they were sold at auction at the NEC, Birmingham, on Sunday, 5th November. Top price of £6,800 went to a magnificent Harry Rountree watercolour of an elevated tee, golfers and seascape background

Clubhaus acquires fourth club in Essex

Clubhaus PLC has acquired The Essex Golf and Country Club, near Coggeshall, from the Messenger Group at a cost of approximately £5.5 million. It is understood that the purchase price is made up by a cash payment of £1.65 million, assumed debts of £3.1 million and a deferred amount of £750,000 in Clubhaus shares

Cable & Wireless and Golfserve join forces with PGA

Cable & Wireless, the global telecommunications group, and Golfserve have announced a deal with the Professional Golfers’ Association to provide virtual ISP services, managed hosting facilities and an e-commerce platform for the PGA. The deal is estimated to be worth close to £1 million per annum and may be extended to 28 other European countries where the PGA has a presence

Clubhaus and Yamaha sign exclusive deal

Yamaha Motor (UK) Ltd has signed an exclusive contract to supply the Clubhaus Group with over 200 new Yamaha Ultima golf cars for the next three years. Deliveries will start in March 2001. The deal is expected to be the start of a period of close co-operation between the two companies

Launch of new course construction company

Barrelfield Golf has launched a new golf course construction company. The first course has now been completed. It is the new Queenwood Golf Club at Ottershaw in Surrey designed by David Kidd as a Surrey heathland course ‘the likes of which has not been built for 90 years or more’

Expert valuers will be available to discuss golf antiques and memorabilia throughout Golfexpo 2000 which is open to golf professionals, club officials and trade buyers only on November 2 and 3 and to the public on November 4 and 5.
